One of my favourite memories from our visit to Albania was the Ksamil holidays we spent at the beach. Actually, there’s a good chance you’ll wind up on one of the beaches along the southern Albanian Riviera if you’re travelling anywhere near there. It’s very convenient to base yourself in Ksamil and explore the surrounding area. Ksamil, also known as “the Maldives of Albania,” it’s incredibly gorgeous, with white sand beaches, warm turquoise waters, and adorable little beach cabins.

It takes around five hours to get to Ksamil from Tirana, so before you go, make sure you know how to drive in Albania. You can also take a side trip and spend a day in Berat, like we personally did, and it’s something I recommend.

Anyway here are the best beaches to visit in Ksamil, to fully enjoy your Ksamil holidays.

Best Beaches For Your Ksamil Holidays

10. Lori Beach

Lori beach , Ksamil

One of our favourite beaches in Ksamil is “Lori Beach”! This lovely secret beach has gorgeous aquamarine waters with white sand that makes it feel like a little piece of heaven in your holidays in Ksamil.

Because the beach is isolated within a bay, the winds and waves stay out. If you don’t really feel like swimming, you can still soak your feet in because it’s quite shallow.

Because this is a private spot, access to the beach requires the rental of beach chairs and an umbrella. In peak season, the price for two chairs is approximately 1,500 lek ($15).

The beach is smaller, so in the summertime it can fill up quickly. If you want a spot, get there early on. As an alternative, you could just remain at the hotel and gain free entry!
Foods and drinks are available at the little cafe right behind the beach. While it’s a good place to get drinks, there are better places to eat.

9. Ksamil Beach 9

ksamil beach nr9 Albania

Perhaps one of the finest and most stunning beaches in Ksamil is Ksamil Beach 9. Whichever place you happen to be in Ksamil, you can easily access it thanks to its location in the centre.

In the peak season, sunbed rentals can run up to 1,500 lek ($15) for a pair of chairs and an umbrella, and in low season, they go down to as little as $1,000 lek ($10).

Like all the Ksamil beaches, it gets crowded from June to August, so it may feel a little tight with each other for beach chairs.

I found out that although the beach is officially open to the public, there isn’t much space to sit without a sunbed. For a spot on Ksamil Beach 9, you may need to rent one at the end of the day. And there’s a lot of super cute restaurants and bars to eat nearby, where you can also use the toilets aswell.

8. Sunset Beach

Sunset beach, ksamil Albania

Ksamil’s north side is home to Sunset Beach. The beach lives up to its name, and yes, it’s among the greatest spots in Ksamil to watch the, you guessed it, sunset.

This beach is still a terrific spot to spend an afternoon lounging in the sun, even though it isn’t quite as idyllic as the other Ksamil beaches.

For about 1,000 lek ($10), you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas, just like at the other beaches.

7. Puerto Rico Beach

Puerto Rico Beach, Ksamil

Directly across the bay from Lori Beach is the next awesome Ksamil beach called Puerto Rico Beach. Here, you can rent a floating net that floats above the water as well as a sunbed. The minimum charge for the net is roughly 5,000 lek ($50) per day.

This beach is a great place to grab a bite to eat or a drink, and it’s close to the Ohana Beach Bar.
Families are frequently seen on this bustling beach, but that’s to be expected at a beach.

6. Relinda Beach

Relinda Ksamil Holidays

Among Ksamil’s finest and undiscovered beaches is Relinda Beach. It feels like a private island heaven and is hidden away from the bustle of Ksamil Beach.

This area has amazing, clean water that is perfect for swimming in. There aren’t plenty of places because the beach isn’t very large. On the deck, nets that dangle over the water are for rent. During the busiest time of year, renting one will set you back about 10,000 lek ($100).

The finest beachfront eateries in Ksamil can be found in the area around Relinda Beach. Seafood that’s freshly caught is delicious at Abiori Beach Bar Restaurant, and traditional Albanian dishes are served with a combination of seafood at Guvat Restaurant.

5. Ohana Beach

Ohana Ksamil

Ohana Beach offers stunning views of the Ksamil islands and is a relaxing, neat beach. Though less frequented than the beaches closer to the centre, the water is lovely and clear.

It’s a little rocky entering the water from the beach, so you might want to pack water shoes just in case.

On the beachfront, there’s a pub named Ohana Beach Bar that’s great for food and beverages. We stopped by the restaurant around May, but we didn’t dine there because it wasn’t yet open. However, we’ve heard great things about it and would definitely try it.

4. Ksamil Beach 7

ksamil holidays -beach nr7

Another among of our fave beaches in Ksamil is Ksamil Beach 7! It is neighbouring to the Ksamil islands, has soft, white sand, and nearly translucent water. How much more is there to ask for, right?

This beach’s closest point to the Ksamil islands is its best feature. You can swim to both of the smaller islands from this spot and venture out on your own since they are less than 100 metres away.

You can also rent kayaks from this beach for a few hours, which will allow you to head out to the farthest island. The total cost of renting two kayaks for an hour was 1,000 lek ($10).
Kayaks can cost more during peak season, but we went in May so I guess it was a little cheapest then.

3. Augusto Beach

augusto beach, ksamil Albania

Ksamil’s Augusto Beach is a secret treasure honestly. This beach is ideal if you want to get away from the noise and crowds and find some peace.

The southernmost beach, Augusto Beach, is still reachable by foot from every hotel found in the city centre. If you would rather drive, parking is available close by.

Unlike the other beaches, the sand on this Ksamil beach is composed of small pebbles rather than soft white sand. You will have more room to chill out and enjoy, though, because this beach is less frequented and it’s somewhat hidden.

For 1,000 lek ($10), you can rent an umbrella and a few sunbeds here. You can also get some reasonably priced drinks at the beachside bar so you can enjoy your Ksamil holidays to the max.
All things considered, this is a fantastic beach to swim, snorkelling, and unwinding away from the crowds.

2. Isole Gemelle di Ksamil

Isole Gemelle di Ksamil

The most beautiful and isolated beach in Ksamil is Isole Gemelle di Ksamil. Reachable only by kayak, paddleboat, or motorboat, it is found on the farthest point of Ksamil island.

The beach is quite narrow and joins together with bigger areas of land. You feel completely alone from the rest of Ksamil, and the panoramas of the Greek island of Corfu are breathtaking.

Renting a kayak or paddleboat gives you the most freedom and mobility for exploring the island, making it the ideal way to experience it. My favourite thing to do while we visited Ksamil was rent kayaks and head to the island from Ksamil Beach 7.

If you are hoping to enjoy the day at this beach, you have to pack some of your own meals and drinks as there are no facilities available.
In summertime, that particular beach can get crowded quickly, but even then, there are lots of spaces to be found on the cliffs above the beach.

1. Mirror Beach

Mirror beach, Ksamil Albania

The distance between Mirror Beach (Plazhi i Pasqyrave) and Ksamil’s centre is only ten minutes by car. The nickname of this beach, which is a true hidden gem in Albania, comes from the bright aquamarine water that reflects sunlight and seems like a huge mirror. If there’s only one beach I had to recommend you to visit during your Ksamil holidays, it’s probably this one.

You can take a car, bus, or taxi for the trip to Mirror Beach. Get the bus driver to drop you off at Mirror Beach if you’re travelling there from Ksamil or Sarande.
You will be dropped off at the main road bus stop by them. The trek down to the beach from the bus stop takes roughly fifteen to twenty minutes.

Although the route to the beach is somewhat downhill and gravelly, it is surely manageable.
During the peak season, get there earlier because parking is scarce and the beach gets crowded quickly.

Questions About Your Ksamil Holidays

ksamil beach

Is Ksamil worth visiting?

Ksamil is absolutely worthwhile to visit, particularly if you’re driving through Albania with children. It’s perfect for families as well as conveniently small. There are plenty of pristine, affordable beaches to choose from, and diving is a great idea due to the quiet, warm seawater. If you’re hoping for an activity that’s adventurous, there are lots of aquatic adventures and several stunning islands to explore.

The only caution I have for your Ksamil holidays is to expect a typical touristy coastal town. I went hoping for some serene relaxed beach village thinking Albania is not a highly popular getaway, but that is surely not the case nowadays!

How do you get to Ksamil Beaches?

Around five hours or so separate you from Tirana to Ksamil Beaches.
Like me, you are able to rent a car and make the trip by yourself. If you are hoping to make stops at other locations along the way, like Berat and Gjirokastra, this is an ideal choice.

As a second option, you may opt for a bus ride, which is less expensive but slightly more difficult, or a taxi, which way more expensive. This is due to the fact that the bus to Ksamil only travels to Sarande and for the final ten minutes, you will either need to take a cab or a different bus.

Ksamil, an adorable town with a rich historic past, crystal clear turquoise waters, and an idyllic location on the beautiful Albanian Riviera, is the ideal combination of rugged beauty. A fantastic option if you’re looking for a not so famous, undiscovered location that won’t break the bank.

Having been there multiple times already, I cannot speak highly enough about this place. It’s small but cute, with a lot of little islands close by , so close that you can swim from island to island.

Ksamil is becoming an admired vacation spot for both foreign and Albanian visitors, having grown into a major tourism hub in recent years. It makes sense that southern Europeans are drawn to this small heaven on the Albanian Riviera given its closeness to Western Europe via Corfu, Greece.

How to Get to Ksamil Albania

ksamil albania

Ksamil lies in the south of Albania, about 9 miles away from Sarande. Sarande can be reached by ferries from Corfu Island in Greece, which is home to the nearest international airport.
Ksamil is four hours’ drive from Tirana the capital of Albania, which has the closest airport in Albania. Some decide to take this route and stop along the way to see more of Albania. If you have the time I’d actually recommend doing this, because there’s a lot more to see especially if you love driving.

What to Do in Ksamil Albania

Visit Beaches & Islands

ksamil beach

Beautiful beaches and islands are plentiful in Ksamil, making it a popular destination for that exact reason. The location is gaining recognition for its pristine waters and white sand beaches, which resemble a tropical paradise.
You can explore a variety of beaches across the coastline, some of which are connected to bars and restaurants.

It’s hard to find a spot on the beach to just throw a towel down during the busiest summer months because there are so many sun beds there.

Don’t pass up the opportunity to visit the Ksamil islands that are close by. You can swim to the closest island from the beach! For around $10 per hour, we rented a peddle boat and went around.
Mabye because it was May, there wasn’t really anyone on the beaches that we discovered on the islands, and we enjoyed them so much. This probably won’t be the case in August because this places is usually packed!

Visit Butrint National Park

butrint-national-park

A few miles away from Ksamil are the ruins of Albania’s Butrint National Park.
Situated only 3 kilometres from Ksamil, Butrint National Park is a conservation area in Albania and is at least 2500 years old. The park is home to a wide range of plants and animals and has a total area of 122 square kilometres. In addition, the park is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city of  Saranda, in the most southern area of Albania, is home to the Butrint National Park. Tucked on a peninsula, Butrint is encircled by the Ionian Sea and Lake Butrinti.

Because of its natural beauty and historical importance, the Butrint National Park is an appreciated attraction for tourists. The park is home to several historical ruins, such as a mediaeval castle, an ancient Roman bath complex, and a Greek theatre.

See The Blue Eye Spring

blue eye albania

Both residents and visitors to Albania have been fascinated with the Blue Eye, a natural phenomenon found here. In Albania, there is a myth that claims that if you go to the Blue Eye, a naturally occurring spring there, and you make a wish, it shall come true. This stunning blue hole is in fact a spring that was created over time when a deep cave collapsed.

The rich blue coloration of the spring, believed to be a sunlight reflection off the limestone at the bottom of the pool, which is what leads to the name. Even in summertime, the water is extremely cold and crystal clear and I personally couldn’t stand in there for more than a few minutes at most.

From Ksamil, it takes roughly 50 minutes to get to the Blue Eye. A large number of taxis will be glad to take you there and set up a time for pickup. Additionally, guided tours are offered if you want to.

Explore the Islands of Ksamil

ksamil islands

Visit one of the three different islands by pedal boat or boat excursion to discover them. Most of the islands are really small. Honestly you could also swim to all of them if you’re a somewhat good swimmer, because they’re not that far out. Out on the largest of the three islands, there’s a small shack selling water and beer, and a few shades set up. Get a boat ride out early if you want to enjoy the day on the island because it gets extremely busy.

Visit Gjirokaster Old City

gjirokaster albania

I went to Gjirokaster on a cloudy day. It was a very scenic drive from Ksamil, taking about an hour. The majority of the drive was through charming rural areas with olive groves and small towns. Everything about the drive was lovely until we got to the old town. The streets are somewhat steep and narrow. It would probably be chaotic if it was busier because it was hard for two cars to pass each other if they were going in different directions.

Bare in mind this part of the city is very old and definitely not designed for cars.
The old town is a time capsule that is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city is a fascinating place to explore with its cobbled streets, Ottoman style homes, popular stone roofs, and the majestic Gjirokaster Castle.

You must pay in lek (roughly $4.) to enter the castle. Euros or cards are not accepted there. There is plenty to explore inside the castle, and the views from it are breathtaking. Visiting Gjirokaster, with its captivating fusion of natural beauty and cultural heritage, is a once in a lifetime experience that exemplifies Albania’s diversity and rich history .

Visit Pema e Thate Beach

Near Ksamil is a small sandy beach called Pema E Thate Beach. “Dry Tree Beach” is the English term for “Pema e Thate.” The reason the beach is called Dry Tree is because there once was an ancient, several hundred year old tree in the water close to the shore.
Ksamil and Pema e Thate are roughly six kilometres apart. Being the closest point between Corfu Island and Albania, Pema e Thate beach offers a clear view of Corfu Island.

Because the sea floor is all sandy and the waters are shallow, the beach is an excellent place to take kids.
Additionally, there’s a seafood restaurant located roughly fifty feet above the beach that offers fantastic seafood and mussels and the views are incredible.

Tips Before Visiting Ksamil Albania

visiting ksamil

Tipping in Ksamil, Albania

Throughout the week we spent in Ksamil, we had numerous conversations with service personnel. Though it is customary in Albania, sadly, many of the country’s closer neighbours do not tip.
Almost everywhere we went, the service was excellent, so we left tips totaling my usual twenty percent. We were regular customers of the same places, and every server knew us and did a great job taking care of us.

As an American and a former barman, I’m accustomed to tip 20%, but a little less is fine too.

Is It Safe in Ksamil Albania ?

I felt completely safe the entire time, even though we were only there for 5-6 days. I went on nighttime walks by myself and saw nothing sketchy. So if you’ve heard roumors about Ksamil being not safe, it’s definitely just that…a roumor.

Prepare a Hot Spot

I suggest preparing a hotspot if you are a digital nomad or if any other part of your life depends on WiFi. While we were there, there was a disappointing rainy day, so I packed my computer in case I needed to finish some work. My laptop wouldn’t even detect the network that my Airbnb host had provided, much less establish a connection.
So just a reminder, have a hotspot.

Where to stay in Ksamil Albania ?

hotels in ksamil albania

There are several different lodging options in Ksamil. Understand that different countries have different star ratings, so a four-star hotel in Albania won’t be identical as a four-star hotel in the UK. Since Ksamil is a small town, it’s difficult to pick between good and bad locations because you can walk everywhere if you’re fit.

You might want to base your decision more on the amenities that are offered than on how far it is to the beach.
Naturally, I reserved the least expensive two bedroom apartment with a lovely view of the sea. It was right by the beach and cost $200 for six nights.

Keep in mind that, in comparison to many other European destinations you may be used to, Albania provides superb value for money, making even the more expensive options worthy .

Onix Hotel

An excellent low-cost choice. The hotel features a spa and is near a beach. For £300 for seven nights, you can get a sea view room with breakfast included (price based in May)

Hotel Kuburi

This hotel offers complimentary breakfast and a swimming pool. Beautiful new hotel near the city centre.
The room costs approximately £490 for seven nights in May.

BLISS Hotel

An ideal, reasonably priced hotel in the heart of things. a great deal because breakfast is included. It’s close to the beaches and has received excellent reviews.
May 7 nights starting at roughly £200 per room.

Ultimately, travelling to Ksamil for holidays is a fantastic and affordable choice if you’re looking for gorgeous beaches, a rich history, and friendly locals. Ksamil offers something for everyone, whether your goal is to chill on gorgeous beaches, go on a journey through historic ruins, or simply enjoy some delicious sea food. Hope you enjoy your Ksamil holidays.

These are the top 10 best things to not miss while you’re visiting Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland:

Located approximately sixty minutes away from Bern, the village of Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland and the entire Lauterbrunnen Valley provide a ton of activities for both active and lazy visitors.

Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland is the perfect place to enjoy a wide range of alpine activities and the breathtaking scenery in both the summer and winter, despite being only 795 metres above sea level on the valley’s lowest point.

10. Visit Mürren

Murren switzerland

A simple and fun trip to make from Lauterbrunnen is Mürren. Located on a hilltop 850 metres above Lauterbrunnen, Mürren is a popular winter resort with a lot to offer summer visitors as well. The village is free of cars.

Taking the cable car to Birg and the Schilthorn is unquestionably one of the most favoured activities in Murren, but there are many other attractions as well.

With about 350 residents, the village is fairly scattered and offers a few lodging options, restaurants, gift shops, a small grocery store, and breathtaking views!
Take the funicular (mountain train) to Allmendhubel (1907m) for the most stunning views of the Alps.

There, you can explore the Flower Trail among more than 150 different species of mountain flowers, taste beverages on the sunny Panorama Restaurant terrace, or soak in the breathtaking alpine scenery from the Skyline Chill relaxation area.
In addition, Flower Park is a kid focused adventure playground.

Mürren also has a number of hiking routes that are suitable for hikers of all skill levels. From Mürren, a relaxing path leads to Winteregg and then descends to Grütschalp.

  • TIP: Purchase farm fresh yoghurt straight from the farmer at Alpkaserei Staubbach, which is located next to the Winteregg train station. You’ll never taste yoghurt like this again.

Lauterbrunnen to Murren

There are two ways to get to Mürren: Either take the quick cable car from Stechelberg, which is a short drive from Lauterbrunnen (and the location of Trummelbach Falls), or take the cable car from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp and then take a train (via Winteregg) to Mürren.

The Schilthorn Cableway station at Stechelberg has a big parking lot. There are fees.

9. Activities at Birg

Birg Lauterbrunnen

It is worthwhile to make a stop at Birg (2677m) if you are travelling to the Schilthorn, particularly if you are an adventurous person.
Thrill Walk is a 200-meter long cliff pathway carved into the side of the rock massif, while Skyline Walk is a platform with a clear floor built over a vertical drop right next to the sunny outdoor terrace.

It’s not for the timid to walk on a wire-mesh (though reinforced) walkway with a sheer drop below.
The Birg viewing platform provides breathtaking views of the valley below as well as the “big three” mountains, the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau.

8. Take the Train to Wengen Village

Wengen, Switzerland

Wengen is another neighbouring village that is well worth seeing. It’s a car free community sitting on a sunny terrace above Lauterbrunnen, just like Murren.
Wengen is a beloved hiking and ski resort in the summer.

Wengen is an ideal spot to stop by on your way to or from the mountain if you are travelling to Jungfraujoch from Lauterbrunnen, where you need to change trains.

7. Paragliding in Lauterbrunnen Switzerland

Paragliding, Lauterbrunnen
Paragliding, Lauterbrunnen

It should come as no surprise that Lauterbrunnen is a beloved paragliding place given the breathtaking scenery surrounding it.

If the weather permits, you can witness dozens of vibrant parachutes as they drop into Lauterbrunnen every morning.
Not just experts can take enjoyment in paragliding in Lauterbrunnen. You too can go paragliding over the Swiss Alps if you’re daring and willing to jump out of a helicopter.

6. Hiking in Lauterbrunnen Switzerland

Lauterbrunnen Switzerland

The Swiss Alps are home to lots of hiking and mountain bike routes, and the hiking trails at Lauterbrunnen offer many chances to take in the breathtaking mountain views.

Should you intend to hike in Lauterbrunnen or partake in any of these mountain activities, you must bring a daypack that can hold your necessities, such as water and snacks.

In the Jungfrau region, there are more than 500 kilometres of well traveled trails that wind past lakes and streams, cross alpine pastures, and go over mountains and valleys.

Many times, the paths begin or end close to a cable car station, which makes the return trip quicker. You can also frequently find a mountain hut or guesthouse along the route that serves refreshments.
At train and cable car stations, and also at the Lauterbrunnen Tourist Office, you can get full maps and route information.

Before departing on any mountain trip, including trips to the Schilthorn and Jungfraujoch, it is advisable to check the weather forecast. On the mountain, it could easily be a white out even though it’s sunny and pleasant in the valley!

You can avoid disappointment by checking the latest Lauterbrunnen weather reports before you head out by checking out the TVs located in the cable car and railway stations, which feature live footage from the Alps.

  • From personal experience, I would strongly suggest the Jungfrau Travel Pass if you intend to go on several different mountain excursions. The pass involves visits to the Harder Kulm funicular in Interlaken, Grindelwald, Schynige Platte, and the Jungfraujoch, among other places. It can be ordered for a variety of lengths of time. Every year, from mid-April to late-October, it can be used for travelling.

5. Visiting Interlaken

Interlaken Switzerland

You will undoubtedly travel to Interlaken at some point while staying in Lauterbrunnen. There are lots of things to do in Interlaken, one of the most well liked vacation spots in Switzerland.
This is the location that offers extra shopping options. The town boasts three big supermarkets, a casino, and cruises on the stunning Lake Thun and Lake Brienz.

Harder Kulm, the town’s “little mountain“, is a great place to see views over Lake Thun and is accessible from the town centre via a funicular railway.

  • Lauterbrunnen to Interlaken: There are regular train services and a 12-kilometer drive from Lauterbrunnen to Interlaken.

4. Exploring Grindelwald

Grindewald Switzerland
Grindewald Switzerland

Favourite attractions include the First Flyer, First Glider, and First Cliff Walk, all accessible from Grindelwald to First through the cableway.
We have also had fun in using the Trottibikes and the Pfingstegg luge (toboggan) track as two other well liked Grindelwald activities.

  • Lauterbrunnen to Grindelwald: You can take a car (about 20 minutes) or a train, changing at Zweilütschinen, to get to Grindelwald. The trip takes about forty minutes.
  • The Jungfrau Travel Pass includes the train ride between Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald.

3. Ride the Rack Railway to Schynige Platte

Schynige Platte, Lauterbrunnen
Schynige Platte, Lauterbrunnen

A trip to the Alpine Garden at Schynige Platte is an excellent idea for those who enjoy the outdoors or gardens.
Travel time is approximately 45 minutes by open sided cogwheel train from Wilderswil, which is approximately 10 minutes from Lauterbrunnen.

The train ride offers breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps, Lake Thun, and Lake Brienz far below as it winds its way up the mountainside.
The Alpine Garden is an ecological park with about 600 different species of alpine plants. It is open from late May to late October every year.

Every plant in the actual “garden” is identified, and tourists can get up close and personal with some uncommon species, like the edelweiss, which is symbolic of Switzerland.

Additionally, there is a simple panoramic walk, a daily performance by alphorn players, and a small museum.

Lauterbrunnen to Schynige Platte: From Wilderswil station, a bahn (train) leaves every 40 minutes (late May to late October). There are links from Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen.
I pointed out above that the Jungfrau Travel Pass includes Schynige Platte train fares.

2. Take a Trip to Mount Schilthorn

Mount Schilthorn, Switzerland
Mount Schilthorn, Switzerland

Although the Schilthorn is not the highest point in the area at 2960 metres above sea level, it is still well worth a trip.
Since I’m not a big fan of cable cars, I turned down all offers to visit the Schilthorn on past trips to Lauterbrunnen. I was determined to get over my worries and see what all the excitement was about on my most recent visit.

When the Schilthorn was used as the scenery for the 1969 James Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” it became widely recognised. Visitors can now take part in a variety of Bond themed activities.

Tourists to Bond World 007 can watch movie sequences and participate in a variety of interactive exhibits, such as being filmed “flying” a helicopter and “riding” a bobsled down a mountain.
While the Skyline View platform, which made an appearance in the film, provides 360° views, the 007 Walk of Fame honours the cast and crew of the film.

Outside the Piz Gloria rotating restaurant, where you can eat and munch all day including Bond’s favourite champagne, is the Skyline View platform.
The platform is, in my opinion, the primary attraction at the Schilthorn. When the weather is clear, you can see the Black Forest and Mont Blanc in the distance. You can also see nothing but snow covered peaks everywhere you turn.

1. Trummelbach Falls

Trümmelbach Falls
Trümmelbach Falls

Last but not least, Trummelbach Falls is yet another popular waterfall in Lauterbrunnen Switzerland.

Situated within the largest underground caves in Europe, you can easily walk there in half an hour from town or take a bus that departs from the railway station and heads towards Stechelberg.

These thunderous falls, which are made up of 10 glacier waterfalls, have carved out corkscrew channels through the valley walls over millions of years.

Stepped walkways lead you over and around the enclosed, foaming, 20,000 liter per second rushing water cauldrons that have eroded the rock into a variety of amazing shapes over time.
You will be astounded by the water’s force and volume.
Every day from April through November, Trummelbach Falls is open. There is an entrance fee.

  • How to get to Trummelbach Falls: From Lauterbrunnen, there are obvious paths for hiking marked with signs. Additionally, you can take a postbus or drive your car from the Lauterbrunnen train station to the falls (go towards Stechelberg).

If you want even more info regarding this small magical village, you can also visit the official website of Lauterbrunnen Here.

In this article we’ve handpicked the best hotels in Ibiza, hoping to help you make the best decision for your upcoming vacation there.

Known for being the international playground of the party people, Ibiza is the third largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands. Visitors flock to the island for sun-filled vacations and enjoyment in the tropical waters of the Mediterranean. A slower pace can be found if you leap into the hilly, agrarian interior or the more relaxed beach towns of Santa Eulalia and Sant Antoni de Portmany on the sunset-facing western coast. Ibiza has a long tradition as a bohemian enclave, attracting flower children of the 1960s and beyond to its serenity. Luxury hotels in ibiza take full advantage of the breathtaking scenery of the island by providing unique experiences, recreation, and culinary options.

There are lots of choices available, whether you want to hide faraway in a whitewashed bungalow or go all out for an infinity pool. We’ve handpicked the top hotels in Ibiza, including the newest additions and renovated lodging, and we’ve listed them in a random order so that you make the right decisions.

11. The Standard Ibiza

The Standard Ibiza best hotels in ibiza

With the opening of The Standard in April 2022, Ibiza’s already shiny popularity reached new heights. The adults-only hotel isn’t large. It has 53 guest rooms and suites, but it does exude luxury. There are lots of lounges and corners where you can relax after an active day at the ocean or have a creative evening. In addition to indoor banquettes, Jara, the street-level restaurant and lounge, offers outdoor seating on Vara de Rey, the main square. Admire breathtaking views of Old Town from the rooftop terrace and restaurant Up, where designers and top models enjoy cocktails.

Visitors should reserve a room at Casa Privada, which is one block from the main hotel, for even more seclusion. With just 14 guestrooms, it features a rooftop pool, yoga studio, and discrete lounge that are only accessible by Casa guests. Two of the suites have terraces with outdoor hot tubs. For a small wedding or corporate groups, the five-story building can be fully or partially booked.

10.  Ibiza Gran Hotel

best hotels in ibiza

The famous Pacha nightclub and the vibrant marina are both close to the Ibiza Gran Hotel’s main entrance. However, all of that is forgotten as soon as guests enter the exquisite hotel’s lobby, which has a more moody vibe than a flashy one.

Natural materials are used for light fixtures and furniture, and neutral palettes define both public areas and guest rooms. Along with a full menu of massages and beauty treatments, the huge spa specialises in hydrotherapy treatments. With a variety of places to eat and bars, such as Club Chinois for late-night partygoers and Japanese izakaya Zuma for fresh sushi, the hotel is among Ibiza Town’s thrilling culinary destinations. Food lovers rush to Óscar Molina’s La Gaia, which received a Michelin star for tasting menus that display local products like Balearic black pork with artichoke and fresh oyster with ají chilli pepper. If visitors wish to enjoy the most sophisticated nightlife in Ibiza, they can dress up and spend the evening playing blackjack and poker in the hotel’s Patricia Urquiola designed casino.

9.Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel

best hotels in ibiza

When you land in Ibiza, you can probably see the Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel next to the landing strip if you look out the window of the aircraft. Located south of Ibiza Town, this extensive resort and beach club offers an astounding 415 guest rooms, making it a popular destination on the island. The sleek, trendy hotel offers anything guests could possibly want for a pleasant stay, including three pools, a spa, beach access, a few dining options, and cosy accommodations with luxurious features like rainfall showers, plush beds, and Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries. Certain rooms include private balconies with views of the pool and the stage, which has hosted performances by David Guetta and Calvin Harris. The cost of the room includes access to the hotel’s breakfast buffet and admission to all events.

8. OKU Ibiza

best hotels in ibiza

OKU Ibiza is the place to go if you want to spend time with yourself and find peace of mind. The ideal location to explore the infamous White Island is this relaxed luxury retreat. Think wabi-sabi-inspired design, two quiet swimming pools, regular yoga sessions, and fusion cuisine. Together with the most stunning beach locations on the island—from vast sandy shores to secluded, little coves—the hotel enjoys a prime location that allows you to walk right up to admired beach clubs and bars with views of the ocean.

7. Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay

best hotels in ibiza

Nobu Ibiza Bay, a popular beachfront destination that popularised lofi Talamanca and home to the much-discussed Nobu restaurant that Robert de Niro himself named. Nobu has integrated in a way that seems incredibly natural for a major international brand. The very welcoming lobby bar buzzes in the exciting way that hotel lobbies used to, with islanders dropping in for meetings, coffee or treatments at the Six Senses spa. The staff, who are arguably the best on the island, know clients by name. Dimly lit and serene, the late-night Nobu Lounge features a carefully selected Nobu sushi menu and a speakeasy, members-only atmosphere.

The bedrooms are large and airy, with a slight bohemian décor in creams and blues that highlights the breathtaking views of the cape of Cap Martinet and the rugged Illa Grossa peninsula at dawn. Kids disappear into the kids’ club for princess and pirate parties on the pool deck, and adults enjoy refreshing watermelon juice, nibble on bento boxes, and dip their toes into the warm sand from wide four-poster loungers. Everything is as carefree and casual as you could anticipate from the creators of Cliveden and the Marbella Club, whose country club vibe, a la Slim Aarons, is apparent everywhere you look.

6. Six Senses Ibiza

best hotels in ibiza

Found on top of a hillside and accessible solely via a looping dirt track, the 116-room Six Senses resort pays tribute to the bohemian essence of Ibiza. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted with a shamanic smoke cleansing ceremony, which is just a taste of the variety of wellness classes and activities that are available. Recharge, reset, and rest are the concepts here, but to a remarkable degree.

Light wood, leather, and stone cover the elegant and sophisticated interiors. Although the hotel’s earthy enclave is enhanced by some rustic elements, the area is actually stylish and draws a global clientele. Some stay longer, waking up to views of the sea, the junior suite’s terrace, and the pool before wandering down to paddle board straight from the ladder into the water.

5. Atzaró Agrotourismo Hotel

hotels in ibiza

The endless nightclubs around Ibiza Town are the opposite of the Atzaró Agrotourismo Hotel, which is located in the interior hills of the island, away from the masses of tourists and active beaches. While Atzaró offers visitors a chance to experience the island’s Mediterranean scenery identical to Shangri-La, beaches are only ten minutes away by car, and Ibiza Town is twenty minutes away.
Located among fragrant fruit trees on 10 lush acres, the hotel exudes luxury and modern design. A lot of the island’s wealthy homeowners hire Atzaró Design, the hotel’s sister company, to design their vacation villas. This hotel is particularly well suited for couples, honeymooners, or any adult seeking a peaceful getaway due to the absence of crowds and noise.

4. 7Pines Resort Ibiza

hotels in ibiza

Despite being on a remote stretch of the island’s west coast, 7Pines Resort offers a wide range of family-friendly activities. Families may hike to Cala Comte Beach and go biking. Hidden between pine trees and the Mediterranean, the resort also has cliff diving classes, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, a kid’s club, and quad and buggy tours available. Yachts can be rented out also.

It is recommended that visitors schedule a holistic treatment at the spa, which uses essential oils extracted from the native plants of the island, and dinner at The View just before sunset. The restaurant serves Spanish cuisine with a touch of the Middle East and North Africa, such as sautéed sweetbreads with hazelnuts and black truffle or langoustines with Iberian pork and almonds.

3. W Ibiza Hotel

hotels in ibiza

The famous brand and the White Isle seem to be a match made in heaven as soon as you walk off the palm tree-lined streets and into the glowing lobby of the W Ibiza. In addition to being modern and stylish, the hotel has playful colours and textures. The common areas are full with throw pillows and offer lots of space for guests to chill out.

The W Ibiza’s “Whatever/Whenever” concierge service makes it an excellent option for first-time guests to Ibiza. The staff is happy to book tables at restaurants, reserve the best beach cabanas and boats, and share insider information about the island, including the best-kept pools and the trendiest nightlife spots.

2. Bless Hotel Ibiza

hotels in ibiza

Bless Hotel Ibiza belongs to the same group as Palladium Hotel Group, which also owns Ushuaïa. Its elegant interior serves as a stylish escape from the wild party scene of Ibiza Town. Though the mood is laid back, there are still plenty of cool things to do, such as the daybeds beside the oceanfront infinity pool, the Michelin-starred chef Martín Berasategui’s Basque restaurant Etxeko, and the Epic Infinity Lounge, which serves dim sum and ceviches while overlooking Cala Nova Cove.

Apart from being sophisticated, the rooms feature blush pink decor and a colour scheme of black, white, and neutral tones. Deep tubs in many bedrooms are positioned so you can stare over the ocean while you soak. Even though it’s not a party destination, the best of Ibiza can still be found nearby in a short taxi ride. If you want to dip into (and out of) the nightlife scene as much as you want to dip in the ocean, go with Bless Hotel.

1. Petunia, Ibiza

hotels in ibiza
Petunia, Ibiza

The sharp owners of Petunia made the right decision when they acquired and renovated a number of stunning 1970s seaside apartments. The view of the rock that prevails Petunia is the nearby Es Vedra, shearing out of the water with all her 1,300 feet, which never fails to make your heart skip a beat. Petunia is an adults-only resort where most visitors are couples. Rustic, casita-style bedrooms and suites are spread throughout vast lavender-scented grounds, and there’s a stately central finca with a cosy boutique, bar and restaurant that buzz with doe-eyed fans.

Fully laid-back, the ambiance is such that visitors go from their suites to the pool in their underwear and under the shade of a Panama hat, reading novels and sipping rosé for hours on end. The guest rooms are incredibly cosy, and the tiled bathrooms—some of which have sunken tubs—are spacious. There’s a pizzeria, a rooftop crudo bar with a panoramic view, and an upscale restaurant with a tasting menu, so there aren’t many reasons for guests to leave.

You have to ask yourself what sort of experience you are looking for when seeking the best places in the alps like Murren Switzerland .
I wanted to be in one of the best alpine locations. I envisioned traditional Switzerland, and although Mürren was the priciest place I visited on my first trip to Europe, I absolutely adored it, and as a result, it quickly shot to the top of my list of favourite places.
There is no traffic noise in the cute village of Murren, which offers breathtaking views. It sits on an Alpine pasture shelf that forms a balcony with a view of the Lauterbrunnen Valley’s sharp cleft. It’s difficult to find places with the alpine landscape, mountain culture, and fun activities that Murren offers! Hiking lovers who want to take in Switzerland’s natural beauty will love it here. There is skiing for all skill levels during the winter.

What to do in Murren Switzerland

Hiking murren switzerland

Hiking Schilthorn

Put on your hiking boots because, if you’re in Mürren, you probably have at least some curiosity in the landscape around you. One of the best locations in the Alps for hiking is Mürren. You could even argue that it is the best.

Nestled above the Swiss village of Mürren in the Bernese Alps, the Schilthorn is a 9,744-foot (2,970-meter) mountain. It is the highest peak in the range north of the Sefinenfurgge Pass, and it overlooks the Lauterbrunnen valley.

From the summit, you can enjoy stunning views of the popular Black Forest and the Titlis, Jungfrau, Mönch, Eiger, and Jura mountains all the way to the Vosges Mountains. And barely visible is Mont Blanc. A telescope at the top of the mountain has a neat little trick where it labels each mountain as you look through it.

The James Bond theme song will play during the cable car ride up, and as you get out, you’ll see a tonne of images and graphics.
A James Bond display called Bond World is located on one floor and features artefacts as well as behind-the-scenes video from the filming process.
There’s the 007 Walk of Fame outside. There are plaques on this walk featuring images of the cast members, a summary of their roles, and an actor’s handprint.

Hiking Birg, murren switzerland

Hiking Birg

On the way up to the Schilthorn, the cable car stops and changes at Birg, a peak measuring 8783 feet (2677 metres). You are free to stop here and take a look around as your ticket does not require you to go all the way to the top. The views it offers are superb even though it’s not as high as the Schilthorn.
Inside are two attractions called the Thrill Walk and the Skyline Walk, as well as a snack stand.
These walks circle the sheer rock face and include fence tunnels, fenced-in slacklines, and glass-bottom floors.
Just so you know, this might not be for you if you have vertigo or have a fear of heights.

Skiing And Snowboarding in Murren

Skiing And Snowboarding in Murren

One of the top ski resorts in the Alps is Mürren. When I was in Mürren, it wasn’t snowboarding season, but if it had been, I would have rented one for sure.
With 14 different types of lifts, the area offers an impressive 32 miles (52 km) of ski slopes. Although skiing in the backcountry and with heli-skiing is doable, it is important to use a guide service for safety reasons.
You can ski in and out of a number of guesthouses, including Pension-Restaurant Sonnenberg, where I stayed. The village offers rentals for skis and snowboards.

See The Inferno Races

Inferno Races in Murren Switzerland

Are you visiting Switzerland to go skiing in one of the top alpine resorts?
Perhaps you could watch the world-famous Mürren Inferno Race or even give it a try.
At 9.25 miles (14.9 km), the Inferno Race is the world’s longest and biggest amateur skiing competition. Overall skiers will find this race to be very packed so early registration is essential to having a chance to compete.
Although the race takes place in January, registration for it closes in September of the year before.
Unfortunately, because of its popularity, only 1850 skiers are allowed to enter; more than 2000 applications were received, so a lottery system is used to choose participants.

Mürren Via Ferrata

Mürren Via Ferrata

Climbing a via ferrata is undoubtedly one of the most thrilling activities to do in Switzerland, and the Mürren via ferrata is among the best.
A via ferrata is a type of climbing path where climbers use steel cables, rungs, or ladders that are fixed into the rock. They attach a harness with leashes to the metal fixtures to prevent falls.
The 2.2 km (1.4 mile) Mürren via ferrata descends to Gimmelwald in roughly 3 hours. According to the German via ferrata scale, it is rated as K3, which is roughly equivalent to “difficult.”
The Mürren via ferrata is open from 9 AM to 6 PM, June 1 through October 31. Although it’s free, donations and guides are strongly advised.

Trümmelbach Falls in Mürren

Trümmelbach Falls in Mürren

Are you in love with waterfalls? There are a whopping 72 waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Lauter Brunnen, its very name, translates to “many fountains.” However, you would think that if you saw one waterfall there, you had seen them all. False. Actually, all 10 glacier-fed waterfalls that make up the Trümmelbach Falls are located within the mountain.
This popular waterfall appears to be falling within the mountain because of how narrow the gorge it has carved out is. A number of stairways, paths carved directly into the mountain, and a lift allow you to reach the falls.
It is at the bottom of the valley, close to Lauterbrunnen. There will be crowds because it’s a major tourist destination in one of the best locations in the alps. I advise arriving early.

Where To Stay In Mürren, Switzerland

Mürren has far more lodging options than you might think for a town with only 450 residents permanently. Something like 2,000 plus hotel rooms. So relax, it’s very simple to find a place to stay. Here are just some of the options you can choose:

Hotel Eiger, Murren

Hotel Eiger, Murren

A classic 4-star family hotel with 49 rooms, suites, and apartments, the Hotel Eiger is located in Muerren. It is a fourth-generation family business with a charming atmosphere.
Recently, every room went through renovations and was refurbished in the classic pinewood style. These peaceful rooms take advantage of the afternoon sun because they face north.

Edelweiss Hotel, Murren

Edelweiss Hotel, Murren

The elegant 3-star Hotel Edelweiss, run by a family, is located on the brink of the Mürrenfluh cliff and has an idyllic setting with panoramic vistas of the Lauterbrunnen valley, the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. The Mürren Train Station and a number of stores are only three minutes’ walk away. Free WiFi is accessible everywhere.
The Edelweiss hotel was the first structure in the Swiss Alps to have a flat roof when it opened in 1927. Rooms at the hotel have a TV and a private bathroom. You can use the printer, periodicals, board games, and books in the common area.
You can taste a full breakfast buffet every morning. The à-la-carte restaurant serves homemade pizza and traditional Swiss cuisine.

How to Get to Murren, Switzerland

Murren switzerland

It’s easy to get to Mürren. There are two ways to get to the village, unless you like carrying all your bags on a long, steep walk (which is possible). After arriving, I rode the train to Lauterbrunnen from Interlaken (the station is called Interlaken Ost). From there, you can take a bus to continue travelling through the valley or you can hike.

The first route up is by narrow-gauge electric railway and cable car from Lauterbrunnen, which drops you off at one end of Mürren. The other option is to go to Gimmelwald via cablecar, which will carry you from Stechelberg, which is at the other end of the Lauterbrunnen valley. After that, you switch cable cars and climb up to Mürren.

Throughout Switzerland, all of your rail and cable car travel is covered by the Swiss travel pass. I bought one and I absolutely suggest it.
Later as I was departing, I rode the cable car to Gimmelwald, explored the even smaller village for a short while, and rode the cable car once more to reach Stechelberg.
Although it might appear complicated on paper, this is actually quite simple to understand when it is in front of you.
One of the greatest (and cleanest) transit systems I’ve seen is in Switzerland.
Also, a lot of tourists will arrive at the same location and ask, “Is this the way to Mürren?” So you can simply follow the crowds if you’re worried.

Zermatt is one of the most gorgeous holiday villages in the world because it sits at the heart of the Matterhorn, surrounded by a vast hiking and ski area. There are 360 kilometres of pistes and 54 mountain railways and lifts within the ski area. Europe’s largest and highest summer skiing region is the “Matterhorn glacier paradise” region.
In this article we’ve gathered helpful information for anyone who’s planning to visit Zermatt Switzerland. We’ve tried to include hotels in zermatt, how zermatt weather is, and much more below.

Before You Visit Zermatt Switzerland

Zermatt, Switzerland
Zermatt, Switzerland

Zermatt, a village high in the Alps, has kept its combustion car ban since the 1960s. There are three options to get there: by train, taxi, or helicopter. You can park in the parking lots in the nearby city of Täsch if you’re travelling by car through Switzerland, and then take the shuttle to Zermatt. When tourists arrive, there are these lovely blue electric buses to assist them in getting around the town.
Zermatt is just across the border from Italy, but most of the locals speak Swiss German. Since French is another of Switzerland’s official languages, they might also be fluent in it. While most people can communicate in a few words, don’t expect everyone to speak English fluently. Learning a little bit of German also doesn’t hurt.
Swiss Franc is also the official currency of Switzerland. Yes, not the Euro. It is slightly more valuable than the USD.
Keep in mind that Zermatt and Matterhorn are not the same, as I had some trouble figuring out this before going there. Zermatt is the name of the town, not an a specific resort, and Matterhorn is the name of the mountain.

Best Times to Visit Zermatt Switzerland – Weather in Zermatt

It might be best to look into going to Zermatt between June and September, when the average daily high temperature gets above 69 degrees Fahrenheit, if you want to go there in the summer when the weather in zermatt is warm.
If you want to see snow, you should visit between December and March, when the average high temperature regularly drops below 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Where to Stay in Zermatt Switzerland

Omnia , Zermatt

Choosing a spot in Zermatt is the issue, not finding a place to stay. Making a decision can be tricky because there are so many fantastic hotels. To be honest, I couldn’t have decided which to choose on my own.
Our Swiss friend had arranged us a room at the Hotel Christiania, which offers the largest spa in Zermatt and some of the most breathtaking views of the Matterhorn.
Although the hotel itself felt more like a cosy cabin, the rooms were quite modern. I can’t get over how breathtaking the views were. The Matterhorn looking back at you when I woke up was an incredible experience that I will never forget.
If the hotel is more than 5–10 minutes away from the Gornegrat, you will have to walk quite a way to access the ski area. Since the Matterhorn is, once again, a key element of the experience, I would also check to see if it has a view of it. Finally, I would ensure that the hotel offers a nice breakfast buffet. You’ll save a tonne of money that way.
Other options that you might want to check are :

  • Hotel Schweizerhof,
  • Resort La Ginabelle,
  • Riffelalp Resort and
  • Hotel Coeur des Alpes
  • The Omnia

Best Things to Do in Zermatt Switzerland

View the Matterhorn

It’s likely that you already have plans to see the Matterhorn if you’re travelling to Zermatt. If not, you need to put it right away on your trip plan. One of the highest mountains in Europe, this one is truly breathtaking. While you can see it from the town, you should also make plans to ride the Gornergrat Railway, which takes you to the best viewpoint, to get a closer look. For an amazing view the entire way, sit on the right side.

Take a ski trip

You have to ski if you visit in the winter. There are over 200 miles of trails on the mountain, so anyone, from rookie to expert, can find a trail that suits them. You could easily spend an entire day on just one slope, the 15.5-mile long Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. Try them and I’m sure you’re going to love a zermatt ski resort experience.

Shopping at Bahnhofstrasse

In spite of its small size, Zermatt has a vast shopping area. Shop for clothes at Bijou les Boutiques, jewellery at Atelier Marcus Marienfeld, and souvenir ceramics at Zermatt Keramik on the Bahnhofstrasse.

Go for a hike

Travelling over the summer months? Hike through the lush scenery and spend time on those same trails. AllTrails lists more than a hundred trails to explore, with the Five Lakes Walk being the most highly recommended by locals. We have rated this 6.8-mile trail as moderate. Give yourself a full day to finish it so you can take as much time as you’d like to pause and take in the scenery.

Where To Eat in Zermatt Switzerland

zermatt restaurant
zermatt

You definitely won’t run out of places to eat in Zermatt if you run out of activities. Actually, tasting some speciality Swiss cuisine is one of the best ways to fully immerse yourself in the culture.
Naturally, raclette, cheese fondue, meat and oil fondue, and Gluihwein are some of the must-try dishes.

Madre Nostra

At the Cervo Mountain Resort, have lunch or dinner by the slopes at Madre Nostra. Fans of meat can enjoy a special three-course BBQ dinner on Mondays, while vegetarians, vegans, and pescatarians can still order salads, pastas, and fish dishes prepared in the Italian style from the regular menu.

3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat

At the highest hotel and restaurant in the Swiss Alps, 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat, enjoy dinner while taking in the view. Its restaurant, Vis-à-Vis, serves local products in Swiss-inspired dishes like fondue, pork cordon bleu, and salmon trout

Fuchs Bakery

Visit the Fuchs Bakery for a tasty start to the day. They make freshly baked goods with ingredients that are sourced locally. Together with croissants and breads, there will be a bounty of sweet treats.

Swiss chalet (classic Swiss style)

For traditional Swiss cuisine in a family-friendly setting, this restaurant is fantastic. We got the impression from the owners that we were eating in their house. Don’t forget to try the Surf and Turf fondue.dip raw food into a pot of oil instead of cheese for cooking. It’s delicious to drink the broth as a soup at the end.

Best Bars in Zermatt Switzerland (especially for apres ski)

Zermatt bars
Zermatt

Don’t worry if you are visiting Zermatt during the week rather than the weekend. Usually, this little town comes alive, even on Monday evenings. Some choose to visit Zermatt’s top bars after a lovely meal with loved ones. Some people just arrive from the mountain, complete with ski boots, and continue to drink until the early hours of the morning. It’s a pretty interesting contrast.

Here are some of my favorite bars in Zermatt:

The Little Bar

Little Bar is such a hidden gem that you would probably miss it if you were visiting the area. Along with a large number of visitors for après ski, it also attracts a mix of foreigners of all ages.

Hairy’s Bar

This is a tiny wooden house that meets a variety of tourists of all ages. It won’t take you long to discover that everyone enjoys dancing here. Even just stopping in for a drink is a worthwhile experience because of the friendly and accepting crowd.

The Post

In theory, there are roughly four bars in one building at the post. There’s the “pink room,” which often features live music, and a stone basement with a large dance floor and a live DJ. It’s arguably one of the most favoured spots in Zermatt for nightlife.

How to get to Zermatt Switzerland

Road to zermatt

Although Zermatt is quite far from the majority of Switzerland’s major cities, getting there is very simple. My advise is to take a plane to Zurich and then the train to Zermatt. We spent roughly three hours on the train.

You could also fly into Milan from Italy across the border, or take the train from Geneva or Bern. In actuality, the latter choice is the closest.

Another option is to drive into Zermatt, but there’s really no point as the town forbids cars. It would have to be left in an out-of-town parking garage. Plus, why not reduce your carbon footprint by taking the train, which has a superior system?

To get to Zermatt, you probably need to transfer at least once. Getting a round-trip train pass is one thing I’d suggest but make sure you keep your ticket. The trains depart on time, so don’t be late!

I hope my advice and suggestions help you to enjoy an equally incredible ski escape week in the Swiss Alps as I did and I wish you the best of trips to your adventure in Zermatt Switzerland!

Every year in January, the hotel is constructed out of snow and ice, and it remains intact until March. For about $1,000 per night for two, you can have the most amazing experiences ever. The hotel has 44 themed rooms. For an even more enjoyable experience, premium models even include a fireplace in the centre. Don’t worry, it won’t cause the ice to melt. There is a lovely chapel for weddings or vow renewal ceremonies, as well as a Nordic leisure area with outdoor spas and saunas.

Breckenridge, Colorado

7. Breckenridge, Colorado

According to the general public, Breckenridge, is the best place to visit in Colorado, the best ski resort in the United States, and the second best ski resort in the world. Amazing ski slopes and warm hospitality can be found in Breckenridge.
You can spend the nights relaxing at the city’s bars and restaurants and the days exploring up and down the mountain.

From the mountains now we travel down to some of the most stunning cities to visit in the winter, starting with Copenhagen. While you can spend the entire winter in a hot sauna and attend the Christmas market in December, the fairytale castles are a truly amazing sight to witness. The majority of the castles that are close to the city can be seen on scheduled tours and since Denmark was previously a monarchy, well there are plenty of them. There are free museums and lovely cafes to warm your spirit with a hot drink. The snow enhances the castle site, making the experience even more memorable.

Going on to our top list, we have Tokyo. It’s said that taking a hot spring bath is the ideal way to spend a Japanese winter holiday.
When you visit Tokyo, be sure to take in the contrast between the traditional Japanese gardens which are still green, and the explosive and colourful christmas celebrations. All things considered, Tokyo is a city unlike any other to visit in the winter.

3. Budapest, Hungary

You might not be able to ski in the Hungarian capital, but it is perfect for ice skating in a fantastic atmosphere. A nutcracker performance at the Hungarian State Opera House can extend the life of that enviroment . Don’t miss the city ice rink, which is surrounded by an impressive castle.

Prague , Czech Republic
Prague , Czech Republic

2. Prague, Czech Republic

Wintertime in Europe, especially around Christmas, has a unique level that leaves memories. Perhaps it’s the heavy snowfall and rich history that surrounds the entire region, which has been preserved in everything from the buildings to the customs and traditions.
Czech Republic’s Prague has the same. Attending the candy giveaway on St. Nicholas Eve is one of the most fun things to do there.
Nicholas the Saint from Czechia goes around the streets on December 5th, giving good children treats.
In the evening, you can catch a glimpse of him in the old town square, and if you’ve been good, well expect a treat.

Vienna Austria
Vienna Austria

1. Vienna, Austria

It’s difficult to deny that Vienna is the most amazing city to visit, especially during the Christmas season. Wintertime there is like love at first sight. Perhaps Santa Claus lives at the North Pole, but Vienna is absolutely the birthplace of the Christmas spirit. Vienna is a charming destination with its car free city centre, incredible history that has been perfectly preserved, impressive architecture, and accents of art and fashion displayed all over the city, especially during their annual Christmas market.
If you get tired of all the shopping and cultural activities, you can escape to one of the nearby skiing resorts, or go to a cafe to take in the beauty of the city from a warmer place. Other activities include visiting St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and attending a concert at the Vienna State Opera.
A hotel room in Austria may run upwards of 100 dollars per night for two people.
